I think it's pretty clear Fury underestimated the hell out of Francis, and likely didn't prepare all that much. Like, if any preparation at all.

It's sad that bow everyone turns on Francis as if most experts didn't state that both fighters will go after the KO, and either fighter can finish the fight via KO or TKO. Imagine if the only fight we saw was AJ vs Tyson and AJ shocks the world but looses in a close fight. Them we see AJ vs little fat Ortiz, who embarrassed him. Then we would say that AJ just got lucky in his first ever fight vs Fury. Now we take away the fact that in heavyweight a single punch decides the fight, especially when both fighters open up and go for a KO. It's sad that even pros who know how fights end quickly in Boxing & its often decided by a single punch.
The difference between Fury's fight with Ngannou and AJ's fight with Ngannou was Joshua's power. Fury hit Francis with right hands but couldn't hurt him. Fury's skill has been diminishing since he removed Ben Davidson from his team.
